The GCC Ministerial Council (91st session, June 2004) agreed to consider the possibility of concluding a Framework Agreement on Economic Cooperation between the GCC States and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and FTA negotiations. The Framework Agreement was signed in Islamabad in August 2004.
So far two rounds of negotiation between the GCC States and Islamic Republic of Pakistan have been held to establish a free trade area. In these rounds of negotiations a number of topics related to this agreement were finalized. The two sides look forward to concluding and signing this agreement at earliest possible time.
