  The GCC imposes Final Measures on their Imports of Chemical Products

The GCC imposed final measures on their imports of chemical plasticizer products.

The Assistant Secretary General for Economic and Development Affairs, Mr. Khalifa Bin Saeed Al-Abri stated in a press release on Thursday, 16 May 2019 that the GCC Ministerial Committee for Industry have adopted the GCC Standing Committee of Anti Injurious Practices in International Trade recommendation of imposing final measures in the form of quantitative restriction and uniform tariff. He stressed the GCC states keenness to protect their industry and interests while emphasizing their commitment to the Economic openness policy (free-trade), pointing out that the GCC states by imposing the final measures seek to achieve the WTO principle of fair trade.

The Director General of the GCC Bureau of Technical Secretariat for Anti Injurious Practices in International Trade, Mr. Rehan Mubarak Fayez stated that The GCC Ministerial Committee for Industry adoption of the GCC Standing Committee recommendation was based on the results of the GCC Bureau of Technical Secretariat for Anti Injurious Practices in International Trade investigation within 15 months. The GCC Ministerial Committee for Industry decision of imposing fixed quantitative restriction of three years, along with customs duty that gradually decreases annually throughout the period of imposition after the quantitative restriction has ended, is published in the GCC Bureau's official bulletin No. 21, issued on 10 Ramadan 1440 H corresponding to 15 May 2019, and available on the GCC website.
