  Secretary- General of the Gulf Cooperation Council Meets with the President and the Board Members of the KCCI

Within the framework of the GCC Days events, organized by, The Kuwaiti Ministry of Information in cooperation with the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council, The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid al-Zayani visited on Wednesday, 7 November 2018, the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce & Industry headquarters in Kuwait; Accompanied by a delegation of the GCC senior officials. He was received by, Mr. Ali Mohammed Thunayan Al-Ghanim, the President of the KCCI, and a number of its Board Members.

During the visit, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid al-Zayani, and the accompanying delegation met with the President and the Board Members of the KCCI.

Dr. al-Zayani expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation for organizing this meeting between the GCC and the Chamber, as part of the events of the GCC days held in Kuwait; which aims at informing the public about the achievements of the GCC joint work.

The Secretary-General commended the vital role played by the KCCI in supporting Kuwait's economic growth, promoting commercial and industrial activities, and supporting the private sector in its role in promoting the economic and social development of Kuwait, expressing the readiness of the General Secretariat to intensify cooperation and coordination with the chambers of commerce and industry in all  GCC countries, thus enhancing the chances of increasing the GCC economic growth and advancing its development process.

The Secretary-General stressed that the cooperation and economic integration between the GCC States achieved remarkable outcomes enabling the GCC to occupy a considerable place among world countries.  Pointing out that the directives of their Majesties and Highnesses leaders of the GCC States emphasize the importance of achieving integration between the GCC States, and give the private sector the opportunity to engage in laying down the foundations of development through providing it with all facilities, incentives support and encouragement to enhance its vital role in the GCC sustainable development; and expanding the areas of economic and trade cooperation with countries and international economic blocs.

For his part, HE Mr. Ali Mohammed Thunayan Al-Ghanim welcomed the Secretary-General and the accompanying delegation, thanking the GCC for organizing this meeting in cooperation with the KCCI to acquaint Kuwaiti private sector representatives with the GCC achievements in the economic field.

The GCC delegation gave a presentation that included the GCC role in policy-making and its strategic objectives, as well as its achievements in the economic, commercial and development fields, and the interdependence achieved regarding those areas, in addition to the efforts made to maintain high levels of human development, increase economic growth and sustainability.

The presentation also pointed out the GCC achievements and joint action through close integration and interdependence established since the Unified Economic Agreement was approved, and the role played by the GCC the Commission of Economic and Development Affairs, and the foundations of its work and its plan to achieve economic unity.

The meeting was attended by, Mr. Rabah Abdulrehman Al-Rabah, the KCCI Director General, and a number of the KCCI board members. Attended form the GCC, Mr. Hamad Rashid Al Marri, Assistant Secretary General for Legislative and Legal Affairs, Dr. Adel Khalifa Al Zayani, Head of Human and Environmental Affairs, Mr. Khalid Al-Sheikh, Director-General of Economic and Development Affairs Authority, Mr. Reihan Mubarak Fayez, Director General of the Technical Secretariat to combat harmful practice office, and Mr. Faisal Al-Shaikh, Director-General for General Directorate of Media and Strategic Communications.
