  The GCC Ministerial Committee for Municipal Affairs Hold the 21st meeting

GCC – Kuwait

The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid al-Zayani, attended the 21st meeting of the Ministerial Committee for Municipal Affairs, on Thursday, 8 November 2018, in Kuwait. The meeting was chaired by Eng. Husam Abdullah Alroumi, the Kuwaiti Minister of Public Works and Minister of State for Municipality Affairs.

In his opening speech, Eng. Husam Abdullah Alroumi said that this meeting comes within the framework of the GCC cooperation, complementing its historical journey towards achieving more coherence, cooperation and integration between the GCC States and fulfill the aspirations of the leaders and the peoples of the GCC States towards security, advancement and prosperity.

He added that the GCC journey has gone on for nearly four decades, during which it achieved a lot. However, the road is still long to fulfill all the ambitions of our leaders and the aspirations of our peoples. Stressing that enhancing the achievements and maintaining its gains won't happen unless we unified the efforts and exchange the experiences in regards to municipal affairs.

HE stressed that today we are responsible for consolidating the GCC identity in the field of municipal work, through Continuous cooperation and coordination to face current and future regional challenges, and discuss all means, mechanisms and proposals to achieve further progress.

In his address, The Secretary-General extend his deep gratitude and appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, Emir of the State of Kuwait and Their Majesties and Highnesses leaders of the GCC States for their support aiming at preserving this blessed process and achieving more coherence, cooperation and integration between the GCC States and their citizens.

The Secretary General also expressed his thanks and appreciation for the role played by the ministers, stressing the efforts they made implementing the directives of their Majesties and Highnesses the leaders of the GCC states shows their keenness to support so as to push this blessed process ahead towards its noble goals and to fulfill the aspirations of the peoples of the GCC.

He added that this meeting coincides with the "GCC Days" organized by The Kuwaiti Ministry of Information in cooperation with the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council, which come as an implementation of the decision made by the GCC Supreme Council, aimed at informing GCC citizens of the achievements made in various fields. Expressing his thanks to the Kuwaiti government and its entities for all the efforts made supporting and sponsoring the event in such a distinctive way.

The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid al-Zayani, and Eng. Husam Abdullah Alroumi, honored the winning projects of the GCC Council for Municipal Work prize organized by the Committee for Municipal Affairs, who were;

1/ Kuwait Municipality: Souq Al-Mubarakiya.

2/Buraimi Municipality: Al Buraimi Park.

3/ Sharjah City Municipality: humanizing cities.

4/Almadinah Region Development Athority:  humanizing Medina.

 5/ Asir Municipality:  the fog mountain shore.
