  Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council attends an Introductory Presentation on the GCC Customs Information Center

The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, received on Monday, 4 February 2019, at the GCC headquarters, Mr. Abdulmalik Al Sheikh, Head of the GCC Economic Affairs sector, and Mr. Hussam Al-Blaihy, Director General of the GCC Customs Information Center; where they gave an introductory presentation on the Customs Information Center, and its efforts to facilitate customs procedures at the GCC ports.
Dr. Al-Zayani was also briefed on the exerted efforts to develop a mechanism for the conversion of customs duties between the GCC customs administrations, adopting the Customs Electronic Clearance system instead of the manual system.
The Secretary General expressed his appreciation to the GCC Customs Information Center, praising its role in overcoming difficulties and conducting procedures at the GCC customs ports. He stressed the importance of continuing the efforts to develop the systems and procedures, and maintaining what have been achieved in this field. He affirmed that the GCC Customs Information Center success will further strengthen the GCC customs union position, and enhance the GCC inter-trade status.
