  Iraqi Prime Minister Receives the Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council

On the occasion of the visit of the Prime Minister of Iraq to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Iraqi Prime Minister Mr. Adil Abdul-Mahdi, received on Thursday, 18 April 2019, at his residence in Riyadh, HE the Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani.

The Iraqi Prime Minister welcomed the Secretary General, and praised the GCC active role to enhance security and stability in the region and promote the Arab joint work in all fields, noting the constructive role played by the GCC General Secretariat in this regard. He expressed his hope that the Iraqi-Gulf relations will witness further growth and development for the benefit of the peoples of the region, and to enhance its security and stability.

For his part, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani expressed his congratulations to the Prime Minister Mr. Adil Abdul-Mahdi on the assumption of the premiership of his country, at this important stage, wishing him the best in achieving the aspirations of the brotherly Iraqi people, and praising Iraq success in defeating ISIS, as well as its stability and security.

The Secretary-General also praised the Iraqi-GCC efforts to promote and develop their joint relations, according to the mechanisms adopted, noting the continued coordination between both sides in this regard. He commended the joint meetings that took place between the two sides, and the ambitious visions reached to develop and strengthen relations in various political, security, economic and social fields.

During the meeting, they discussed the brotherly relations between the GCC and the Republic of Iraq, as well as means of developing these relations in various fields.

The meeting was attended by, Mr. Mohammed Mustafa Hashem and Dr. Mohamed Alhakim, Advisors to the Prime Minister, Dr. Qahtan Taha Khalaf Al-Janabi, the ambassador of Iraq to the Kingdom Of Saudi Arabia, and a number of the GCC Senior officials.
