  The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council meets the US Central Commander

The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani met on Sunday, 18 August 2019, in Manama, the United States Central Commander Gen. Kenneth F. McKenzie.
The Secretary General congratulated Gen. McKenzie on his assumption of this high position and wished him success in his mission. He praised the defense tasks and responsibilities carried out by the US Central Command to protect maritime navigation and ensure freedom of international trade in the Arabian Gulf and the Red Sea.
During the meeting, they also discussed relations of defense cooperation between the GCC and the United States within the framework of the ongoing strategic partnership between both sides, and the outcomes of the recent GCC-US summit, in addition to the latest security developments in the region in light of the escalating tension.
Dr. Al-Zayani praised the close military cooperation between the GCC and the United States, and the efforts of both sides to enhance the defense capabilities of the GCC States, maintaining the security and stability of the region and enhancing regional security and peace.
The Secretary General also pointed out the advanced level of cooperation and the historic friendship between the two sides to serve common interests and safeguard the security and stability of the region. He stressed the GCC States keenness to strengthen the cooperation relations between both sides in various fields.
The meeting was attended by, Mr. Justin Siberell, the US Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain, and a number of senior officials in the US Central Command.
